LOGO

After much deliberation over the logo I've gone for a hand drawn look and branded it as 'me'.

TAKE TWO

I located some more suitable paper and made a few adjustments to the design and template and got printing again!

I'm really happy with the results, I experimented lino printing some details on to the dresses but decided its striking enough as it is.

1950s DRESSES

I've been developing my patterns and designs, the most exciting being a silhouette of a 1950s style dress. The hour glass figure and the A-line skirt epitomise 1950s fashion.

INTERIORS AT ST.MARY'S STREET

The window display in my local interior designers is a wonderful collection of 1950s festival memorabilia and the latest 1950s collection from Sanderson.

Sanderson have re-launched some of their original 50s designs alongside the latest creations from contemporary designers and the collection has been a huge success, in particular the fabric.

WHITWORTH

I've been gathering all the inspiration I can and recently visited the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester. I was delighted to come across the 'Private Paradise' wallpaper exhibition, however it was the Lucienne Day fabric that caught my eye. Considering my own colour scheme the pillar box red definitely seems to have been the colour of the 50s.

PROJECT WALLPAPER!

As part of my final university project I am creating a wallpaper and fabric company.

My first collection will have a 1950s Festival of Britain theme. In the current recessional period many post-war values are once again relevant.

The 40s style florals that have been at the height of fashion are becoming over used and the design world is preparing for a full on 50s revival.
